Fun weekend family visit/ fire monster first fishing trip

I woke up friday morning to my sister in law calling to make sure I knew her, my brother in law, and my father in law would all be there that night for the weekend!  I didn't have a clue! I got up and got to work.  Monkey butt had girl scout camp and we had tons to get done around here.  So we got the house in order, got her packed, sent her off, set up the guest bedroom, and then my hubby lay down for a nap so he could stay up with his family (he works over nights)  When they got here we were grilling, but my hubby got a migraine and he had to lay back down. So I got everyone fed, cleaned up dinner, and he still wasn't good so I ran him to the e.r.  One shot in the but and a zofran under the tongue later he was good to go.

Next morning he worked the morning.  I had set up hash brown casserole for breakfast the night before so  I got up threw that in the oven got everyone fed, and got  us ready.  When my hubby got off work we got everyone packed into wally for a adventure. (left to right: my brother in law daniel, my hubby ben, my sister in law bernie, our adoptie/abductie Pat my neighbor, fire monster and me.)

(daniel showing he is 8 months pregnant too, my benji, bernie, firemonster and my father in law danny)
First stop was manerds to get some fishing stuff.  Grandpa had decided it was time fire monster go on her first fishing trip and he was gonna take her.  So they picked out a fishing pole.

She was sooo excited (who doesn't want a light up princess fishing pole right?)
Grandpa won huge points for that one.
Here we are on the way out to the lake..
Load everyone up in the van and hit the road.  It was too fun.
Here is my sister in law and Fire monster having a good time in the back and giggling away.

Get to the lake and fire monster and grandpa set up her fancy fishing pole.
She fished for quiet a while
She loved every minute of it
 She became quiet the caster.
I think someone will be making a great fishing buddy.
The only thing she caught was a cat fish (whiskers with her toy fish on the line when she got home lol) but she had a good time..
Eventually she decided it was swimming time.
We went back to eat and her and auntie bernie played in the water for quiet a while building sand castles,
 Swimming,
 and climbing trees.
We were all pooped out and went home to grill and have a bonfire.  It was a last minute but very fun visit and one trip to the e.r. is not bad for a Powers family visit esp. considering it wasn't for a injury.  Everyone headed home this morning and my hubby is off at work, and I am waiting for Monkey butt to get dropped off after girl scout camp but you better believe my hubby is planning on running fishing after work with his new fishing buddy. ;)

notd.

Hey guys I had to share my mani I did last night.  I finally redid my nails since it had been about a week of my leopard nails lol I stripped them down and did this...

I used sally hansen white on under all my nails except my middle finer.  It makes hot pink pop in person it is highlighter neon pink!.  I had 2 or 3 coats loreal sparklicous on middle finger and two coats of white on on ring finger.  (here is a trick I recently learned from Tiffany d if you are using nail polishes that tend do be streaky use one coat of a matte topcoat in between layers and it will keep it from looking streaky and taking lots of coats)  I used my black chevron strips ( I have the tutorial for the easiest chevron nails ever here ).I put a coat or two of orly passion flower over the other nail then  I topped it all with some out the door top coat (extra coats on the accent nails) and I was good to go.  A fun bright summer nail with a bit of sparkle!  Have a good one guys.

braided cheesy chicken broccoli bread

I don't remember when it was but I (like often happens) decided to try a recipe from pintrest and it was spaghetti bread.  It looked complicated but was really quiet simple and It was a big family hit.  The hardest part of the recipe is remembering to take the loaf of rhodes bread dough out to thaw lol.  I have since made all kinds of braided bread recipes (taco, buffelo chicken, ect.) At some point a while back I decided to try braided cheesy chicken broccoli bread and it was a big hit with the family (even fire monster who has always told me broccoli was poopoo).  I made it last night and did a step by step process for you guys. One loaf feeds my family of 4 (my girls aren't huge eaters but my hubby eats atleast seconds and I go back for seconds normally and he has a bit left for lunch if you have teens or what not makes a side or a second loaf :)  here is all you need:
  • a few frozen chicken breast
  • a loaf of frozen bread dough
  • 1 small can cream of chicken soup
  • about 2-3 cups cheddar
  • and half bag frozen chopped broccoli
Start by tossing your chicken into the crock pot.  I used more then a few frozen boneless skinless chicken breast because I figured I could use the second half for dinner tonight.  I love to cook my chicken this way it leaves it juicy and is no fuss no muss.  I toss them in throw a bit of sea salt and pepper on top and toss it on low for about 3-4 hours

At that same time take a loaf of frozen bread dough out (rhodes is most common but I think I used hyvee brand for this).  Place the bread dough on the counter on parchment paper or a silicone nonstick mat like I did.  And just leave it to let it get to room temp.  (I took all this out about noon and started dinner about 3:30 or 4:00 because of my hubby's work schedule he has to be in bed by 6:00 p.m. which means we eat at the same time as nursing homes lol)
The bread will be more of a room temp but not have raised.  You take it and roll it out into as big a rectangle as you can(you will need to use a bit of flour on the top to keep from sticking to your rolling pin but don't flour surface you are rolling on or it won't stay rolled out and stretched).  Then place plastic wrap over and let sit for about 15 min while you work on the rest of ingredients.
Here is the chicken fully cooked and falling apart in its own juices. (start oven preheating to 350 f)
Shred up a few cups of it just using a fork
Add the can of cream of chicken soup.
Blanch and add half the bag of frozen chopped broccoli.
Add a few cups of cheddar (normally I have been liking to by brick and shred or chop my own but shredded was on sale so meh what eve) mix it all up and you are ready to move on.
Fill the middle of the dough with the mixture. (making sure to leave room at sides and ends of rectangle).
Use a knife and slice the edges like so about every 1'' to 1 1/2''

Fold in ends like so
Then take one strip from one side and wrap to other like so..
Then wrap one from other side like so and keep alternating just like that until you get to the end..
It will then look like this..
I sprinkled with a bit more cheese.
Bake at 350 f for 30-35 minutes and this lovely thing will come out.  Sometime you get some leakage like I did  if this bugs you take care to leave a bit of a gap between cut lines and filling during the process.  but this doesn't but us we just scoop up the spillage when we dish up.
It is soo yummy and cheesy and delish.
I hope you guys like this and I hope you give it a try.  If you do please let me know how you like it :)
Have a good day guys.

33 week update

Okay so this week has been a bit crazy.  Starting last thursday I was having sharp pains in my stomach.  Not round ligament pains but on the inside.  My Dr suggested just taking a bath when I called well they kept up and I went in and had them do a lab only  test on me (meaning I didn't see my dr) and I had a bladder infection.  Started my meds went through the weekend and I was still having pains but I had a drs scheduled for monday.  She did the once over on me and checked me and had a ultrasound done.  Must me the bladder infection was taking longer to heal then usual.

Anyway the ultra sound showed that Max is breech.  Which it is still early not much to be concerned about but I found out the lump I always feel in the top of my belly is his head!!  Aparently he doesn't care for being upside down.  I am hoping he changes his mind because I don't want to have to have my third baby by c section!!   Here is a pic from the ultrasound.   It is his profile

I also got a few more pics from the maternity shoot.  Here is one of me and the hubster...

Here is fire monster and my g.f.s little girl (she had to get in ont he picture action) Fire monster and Shyla are quiet the dou.  They were off catching frogs and we had to drag fire monster back to finish the shoot. literally)
Here are my two monkeys giggling and being silly.
I forgot to post this video of max on the move last week.  :)  Me and monkey butt were watching the notebook.  She has discovered Nickolas Sparks.  She watched safe haven with me and loved it so we tried notebook she liked that at the moment we are watching lucky one.  (seems to be another hit)

Anyway I am going to make my girls some lunch and start tossing stuff in the crock pot for dinner.  :)  Hope you guys are having a great day.

diy no sew bunting tutorial

I thought it would be a great addition to Max's nursery to make some bunting.  I didn't want to take the time to sew all the flags together and use bias tape and what not like most of the tutorials I ran across. Since I would have it flat on the wall it didn't need to be two side.  I thought I would just do it no sew style and share a tutorial with you guys

 Here is what I used:
  •  Thicker twine (I got it at walmart in the jewelry making section)
  •  I had 5 different fabric patterns (all scraps from other projects for the room.
  • hot glue and glue sticks
  • a rotary cutter and mat
  • card board to cut a templete
I made the templete 11cm wide (at the base of the triangle) and made a mark 5.5 cm in the middle of that and used a straight edge to draw a line from the ends to it.  I folded my fabric so each time I cut along the templete I would get atleast get 4 triangles and I would leave a tab about 3/4'' off the edge so I would have a tab to glue over the twine.

Here is what they looked like:
I lined them up in the order I wanted to glue them on (making sure to mix more colorful patterns and the grey)
I measured and cut my twine for the place I wanted it to cover taking into account the drape I wanted.
Then take a triangle place it wrong side up and place the twine along the tab you cut..
Next do a line of glue just under the twine.  (if you look close you can see it in the picture)

Then fold the tab over onto the glue and press down.
Keep going down the line.  You can do them back to back or leave a gap I left about 1/2-3/4'' gap between flags.
I made two different ones for max's room.
Here is the finished product.  I did one over his changing table.
And one along the back wall with the rocker..

As you can tell I used some of the left over fabric from the name canvas's I made That tutorial can be found here.
There is the project for the day.  I have another lined up I need to get done but my girls have been AWFUL all week so far and I have had my hands full.  They brought shame to the family name during a emergency ultrasound yesterday in which they were fighting the whole time (I mean kicking, hitting, rolling on the floor, getting into things) It was RIDICULOUS!!!  But they haven't found why I am having the sharp pains in my stomach but Max is breach!!  So I have another ultrasound in 3 weeks to see if he flips.  I am very concerned after the ultrasound because I figured out his head is the bump that has been up by my ribs the whole pregnancy. makes me think that he doesn't like to be upside down!  I hope he changes his mind soon.  I am off to a appt.  I hope you guys are having a great day and this tutorial is helpful.
