septoplasty day 5 update

Well since my last update I have had a few pretty rough days.  It basically feels like I have a awful sinus infection/cold.  I have stuffiness, swelling, and headaches.  Every now and again a problem I don't expect pops up to surprise me.  (like the horrible stomach ache from drainage during surgery) one of those things happened the past two days.  I will be fine just sitting there and then things will shift in my sinuses and my body will react like I have a inner ear infection.  Boom nausea, I almost pass out, dizzy, and all around sick as a dog.  I have had a few bouts of that.  Not fun.  Now my surgery wasn't cosmetic surgery it wasn't a nose job (that is rhinoplasty) Mine was all internal structure to help with drainage and airflow.  But I took before pictures and after just out of curiosity.  The left if before the right if after.  Now in this picture you can't see the bump on my nose for some reason so I did another.
In this one the left is the after the right is before.  You can see the bump I am talking about.  I can feel it very well when I touch my nose.  You can see swelling in my eyes sinuses and nose although there is no bruising.  I don't have a stitch of make up on in any of these pictures.  I just wanted to show you guys the true look and process.  It looks like there is quiet a bit of swelling in my sinus areas you can see on my forehead by my eyebrows and the darkness and selling in and around my eyes.
I forgot to take my pain meds ( I have been weaning down the amount doing half a pill instead of a whole and filling in with advil ) but I forgot for too long now and and getting pretty uncomfortable.  So I am going to take my meds and go to bed.  I have post op tomorrow after noon we will see how I am healing :)

My surgery..septoplasty turbinate reduction concha bullosa resection

So I have always had a problem with sinus infections.  I figure if you have bad allergies it goes with the territory.  But for the last over year I have had a pretty much continuous sinus infection and I have had bloody noses sometimes up to 7 or more times a day.  On a good day I don't have a bloody nose.  When I went in to a e.n.t in april I had been on 6 rounds of augmentin in the last 6 months!!!  That doesn't include the other six months and their rounds.  I have been through all kinds of allergy meds also a few zpacks.  I also have been through a few rounds of steroids.  So I have had it with the constant head aches and sinus infections and nose bleeds.  Our next step was surgery.
I have a deviated septum and a bunch of my glands and what not were swelled up to where things were just sitting in there and infecting.  So my Dr. said I needed a septoplasty turbinate reduction concha bullosa resection.  Let me break that down for you a septoplasty is a surgery to correct the deviated septum.  That means the middle part the inside of my nose is crooked from being broken (no double from my lovely mother smacking me in the nose when I was a child all the time) So the make incisions cut in and take out the bone and cartlidge and correct it.  They also took some bone spur.  Here are what some turbinates look like and what will happen there.

As for the concha bullosa. I couldn't find a good illustration like the terbinates so It is like a edimame shaped thing in my nose that is swollen and blocking the way so that was removed also. So it is all to make a proper airway for me.  I had to removed my opaque polish for the surgery it was a requirment. So I removed the blue I had on and did a french mani
This was me no make up on the way to surgery yesterday.
This is me after.  I have had surgery two other times.  I had my wisdom teeth removed all four at once two had already grown in and  two were cut out.  I also had my breast reduction a few years ago.  This was the hardest come out of.  It wasn't the sinus pain I have lived with that for a year.  I had this awful taste like I had used a antibiotic as a breath mint and just let it dissolve in my mouth.  My stomach was killing me it was all the drainage and blood had gone to my stomach.  I threw up allot.  It was a vicious cycle.  I was sitting up in a recliner so when they would give me antinausea  meds I would pass out my heads would go back and every thing would drain.  I would wake up get sick and everything would start over.  Because of that I couldn't eat anything to get my pain meds in me so my blood pressure started to raise (it was like 170/100 something my bp pre surgery even with being freaked out was 120/69) which means I was bleeding more.  So finally I just made my self throw up and one time was all it took all the drainage came out lol.  I had half a blue bag of that I instantly felt better ate some pudding and took my pain meds.  My bp dropped right away.  I made them move the recliner out and I reclined it was far back as I could passed out a bit longer and then was well enough to head the hour and a half home.
This is me on my way home.
They say to stay on top of your pain meds even if your not feeling too bad because your bp will raise and you will bleed more)  I got home and laid down with the hubby went to get my meds.
This was me yesterday evening looking lovely.  I don't have any packing or anything just a strap that holds a peice of gauze under my nose to catch any bleeding and drainage.
These are the pretty roses the hospital sent me.  I am really hoping whiskers the idiot doesn't eat these.
So I ate relaxed took my meds and at bed I used the refrigerated eye mask they sent home.  I slept better then I thought I would.
Today so for I am up and doing okay.  I am not in a ton of pain but I have crazy dry mouth that won't stop and I am not bleeding as much . So there is day one so far.  I was up pretty early this morning because I slept through my pain med alarm.  I didn't wake up from pain or anything but I figured I better get on it before I started to and the bleeding increased.  But now that my pain meds have kicked in I am ready to crash again.  :)  Will check in later.  Have a good day guys.

post op

Well in order to show you guys the honest truth of what my operation was all about I am documenting the days. I have my first pic was of yesterday day evening day of surgery.

I had to have my ace bandage on there was no peeking and there was a patch over my left breast because it was bleeding through a bit but I really didn't feel bad. I spent most of the evening in my ace bandage tube top so that I could ice with out dealing with a shirt and I did ice and ice and ice some more. With ice packs that were made of powder that mama sherry brought me. they rocked. I got put under at 11 and I got home by 5 I could have been home earlier except I couldn't stay awake. So i slept the whole car ride home and then I slept on the couch until 7 and then went back to bed from 12 until 2 and was up for ever because 20 hours of sleep was enough for a while I guess. But I doped my self up with benadril at 5 and went back to sleep until 10:30
this is me the next day after a shower I got to take my bandages off (this is sans bra seeing as I am stitched ). I was a 36 g now I should be a 36 c after the swelling goes down. The girls are very cute and perky when clothed but they look a little bit like a shark attack victim underneath (hey I told you I was going to tell the truth)

here is the side view. me and my ladies spent most of the afternoon evening ripping the somewhat cowl and raglan leaf t to make other things that will fit from them :) all very exciting but I am going to drug my self with some benadril and go to sleep :) sleep well every one

surgery success..so far so good

So my lovely mama Sherry got here in one piece yesterday although her luggage took a slight detour through salt lake city which is mysterious because she had a direct flight from Washington state. :) But it was there by family dinner at the sisters. Here is fire monster attempting to help out with the help of one very lazy diabetic step stool named Andy.

I spent yesterday down with the girls at my other big sis's then came home doped my self up on Tylenol pm and hit the hay. After a night full of dreams where I just kept getting thwarted on my attempts to get to surgery on time. I woke up and off I went surgery was scheduled for 11:40 but I got to go in a bit early. I was home around 5:00. I could have got home earlier if I could have stayed awake a bit longer lol. But I came home and my sister in law took the two monsters to her house for the night so I don't get snuggled in the middle of the night. I slept on the couch most of the evening and had a few snicker doodles my lovely Sherry made me and some MacDonald's (shhhh don't' tell) and now back into bed. I am not sooo groggy any more and in a bit of pain nothing too god awful although my left nipple is bleeding lol. I don't think at a alarming rate though. I am small and perky from what I can tell. But now it is time for bed. I will take a picture when I feel like I can wear a shirt :) toodles
