20 week ultra sound

Today I had my 20 week ultrasound.  Things looked great as far as I can tell.  There was the right amount of fingers and toes, 4 working chambers to the heart, great spine, all the facial features, every thing you want to see.  So unless there is something in the details I wouldn't know about looks like our wiggle worm is good to go.
This is the profile.  you can see the head a leg and a hand up by the head.  The wiggle worm was getting sick of being poked but didn't want to turn out so we could get a decent profile shot.

Here is a foot.   (the one that has been kicking me in the bladder no doubt lol

So things are looking good I will get finally reading at some point today  :) I had offered Monkey Butt to come but Mrs conscientious was worried about missing her standardized testing!!! (where did that kid come from!!!) At any rate now I cant rest at ease and enjoy the rest of my afternoon with the kiddos in school while watching the deadliest catch marathon  (can't wait you know I love my deadliest catch!

baby movements are visable

baby movements are now visible!!! We took a few quick videos of the little bug going crazy and I edited out the gender since I still haven't revealed.  But I thought I would share (sorry for the bare belly but it showed WAY better that way.)

Off to bed (if the baby will stop and let me sleep already lol)

19w update

So this week has been crazy.  It started out average.  Monkey butt went to her dads for the weekend.  My maternity swim suit came in on saturday and I took Fire Monster swimming Saturday.  After that the hubby wanted to see Jurrasic Park 3d.  So we took her to that.  Everything on the weekend and through monday went smooth.  Then tuesday came!!!  Monkey Butt forgot her snow boots at her dads and it was snowing..so naturally I got yelled at and she demanded I go buy her some (like anywhere has boots on april 9th at 7 am) Needless to say she went to school in tennis shoes.  Then it really started snowing.  They canceled school at 10:30 since I would have felt horrible making her walk home from the bus stop in shoes in the snow I went to pick her up...big mistake.  The snow we were getting was a layer of ice covered in about 5'' of thick wet slushy snow.  We were sliding every where.  I got stuck 7 times some of the times in middle of intersections and almost slid down a steep embankment in to a ditch (we are talking inches from this which probably would have flipped us)  then was stuck in the drive way side ways and had to have Benji come home and get the car in the garage.

Every since that happened I was having bad pains in my lower abdomen and back.  They hurt worse when I moved and I really wasn't feeling the baby.  So we had a emergency ultrasound at 8:30 am this morning.  Every thing was fine I just have pulled some tendons and muscles and I am supposed to ice things, push fluids, and pop the tylonal.  I did find out the gender but I am not going to tell you guys yet because when we go home for the weekend of the 20th we are doing a gender reveal for my family so you will have to wait until then.  I would love to hear your guesses on the gender though.  I did pick up cupcakes and balloons in the genders color and threw them in the trunk and drove them to my hubby at work to surprise him and took cookies and balloons to monkey butt at school.  I am exhausted and sore and trying to stick to the couch but Fire monster has been something else today and refuses to behave so it has been rough. I am looking forward to the hubby being home and taking her off my hands.  I am also looking forward to feeling better so I can start decorating the nursery.  That is the update for the week :)  Lets hear some gender predictions..

watermelon chiller/ new maternity swim suit

I have a few things to share with you.  First off if you have been following my weekly updates you know I have been craving watermelon regularly.  I decided to try something different and came up with this this weekend... It is my watermelon chiller.

It is low cal and refreshing you could even make it 0 sugar added if you skip the juice.  Here are the ingredients.  I threw some of my watermelon cubes in the freezer, some strawberry lemonade seltzer (this can be replaced 7up or any lemon lime soda diet or regular) and some juice I chose strawberry kiwi because I thought the flavors would go together but you can do any kind you like of skip this all together for a extra lite drink.
1.Fill your cup with frozen watermelon chunks..

2. add a bit of juice like so..

3. fill up the rest of the way with seltzer to cover fruit..
Then just blend and you have this great non syrupy watermelon slushy.  No gut rot from too much sugar here.  If you aren't prego like me you could add a splash of alcohol and it would make a great cocktail but sadly this lady will be abstaining  from any of that action for a while still.
.

This is going to be a great summer beverage for beating the heat this summer ..speaking of summer someones maternity swim suit came this weekend..
Here it is in all its glory before I left to swim at the ymca with Fire Monster Saturday.  If you give this a shot let me know how you like it :)

monday mani

So today I tried something different for my nail art.  It was something I saw in pinterest forever ago and I never remembered to pick up the markers for it.  I finally remembered yesterday to pick up a set of metallic permanent markers when I was at walmart yesterday. I got this multi pack for 1.99 and it had purple, gold, sliver ,and blue  The idea is that you paint your nails and then once they are dry before you do your top coat you draw what ever you want for your design then put your top coat on.  It even said if you mess up you can just clean it off with a cotton pad (or cotton ball) and some rubbing alcohol.  It totally worked  I had a hard time drawing straight with my left hand and had to start over.

Here is my end product...
Now remember this was my first attempt with this. I did a coat of my normal base coat (olry bonder) then two coats of insta dry mint spring.  I painted my top coat on all my nails except the ones I was going to do nail art on.   Then I added the silver stripes on my ring finger then was going to do polka dots on my middle finger but realized I couldn't do polka dots with my left had so changed that giraffe.  All in all it was easy to work with and will so be using this more often.  I did hearts chevron giraffe and stripes on Fire Monsters.  (she wanted a little bit of everything).  So there you have todays monday mani.

18w 1d update

As of today I am 18 weeks and 1 day.  Things are going pretty good.  This week was easter and it was a blast but I got woke up too early and ate too much candy and threw up before it was even 7:00 in the morning lol other then that It was a ton of fun to see the kids having soo much fun.  I have been craving watermelon like crazy.  I have almost polished off a whole watermelon (mostly by myself ) since monday.  I found this post on how to pick a perfect watermelon.  It totally worked and I picked such a great juicy watermelon and have been munching on it all week I am in love.

That ladys advice on how to pick a watermelon is for real give it a shot and let me know if it worked for you :)

Other then that I ordered a swim suit.  I know allot of people would rather die then be in a swim suit when they are pregnant.  but we go to the pool at the ymca quiet a bit, and I love swimming in the summer.  So I have to have one this is the one I ordered.

I tried it on when we were in mankato but I needed to go up one size if it would fit me through summer and they were out there so I just ordered it online yesterday.  According to u.p.s. It should be here saturday so that is super exciting :)  Maybe we will have to hit the pool.  Make sure you guys check out the tutorial on how to make a belly belt.  I wore mine all day today and much better then my maternity pants at this point. :)  Hope your having a great day.

diy maternity belly belt (tutorial)

Okay so maternity jeans have been sucking for me lately.  they fall down all the time and have been driving me crazy so I have been really contimplating the belly belt it looks like this...

It essentially has a elastic band with a button and button hole on it.  then a piece of cloth to tuck into your gap in your jeans so it looks like this..

It gives your jeans more stretch while keeping them up and covering the gap where they are still split.  Well these run about 20$-30$ for something that gets pretty mixed reviews and I just had a feeling I could do this myself.  So I set out to try and it was WAY easier then I thought it would be and in the end it cost me less then 4$ for materials enough to make 4!

Here is what you need for the basic band
-one pack of the widest balck elasic from walmart 1.97
-a pack of jean buttons from walmart 1.97
-if you want a piece of material to tuck into the gap some blue material.  ( I used some blue stretchy knit stuff I bought forever ago)

I cut a piece of elastic about 5.5'' long (you might want to round the corners so not pokey) and stuck the button in about 4.75'' ..

Then I folded the elastic and cut a little slit about .25'' for the button hole on the other side. (if you are better at sewing then me you could sew a button hole with your machine)

I then took a lighter and singed all the edges including the button hole I folded it to opposite direction of when I cut it and it worked perfect. so no fraying.
Then I cut a rectangle of fabric and trimmed it so it was narrower on the top and folded a flap over making sure it was big enough for the elastic to slip through then sewed it up.  (the fabric I use won't fray so I don't even need to hem which I don't care because that part will be tucked in but you most certainly could if you want a more finished look)
Then you slide the elastic band in like this..
the last thing to do is hook the button on the band through the button hole on your pants then you hook the button on your pants through the hole on the band and tuck the fabric in ...it will look like this.
Here is a pic with my shirt down.  sorry such bad quality.  It was in the basement bathroom lol

I am super excited to be back in my favorite pair of jeans and hopefully it helps a few of you mamas to be out there.  I am off to clean my house before my girls get home and make my grocery list :)  Have a good day.
