Chunky cozy knit throw

A while back I made one of the arm knit throws and I hated it.  It was pretty much worthless.  Yes it was chunky and quick but it snagged all the time and was good for nothing but sitting there.  So I decided to unravel it and redo it with my own pattern. 

 I love how it came out.

It is soft and cozy and I love the way it looks.

 It is chunky and fuzzy and perfect.

 Cozy chunky knit throw

Materials needed: size 50 needles

6 skeins homespun quick and thick yarn.

finished product was 42''x62''

guage was 4x8 for 6''

Start by taking 3 skeins of yarn at a time and winding them into a ball.  This will make it easier to knit from since you will be knitting three strands at a time.  It will make a huge ball.  this is after I had knit about half of this one.  

Cast on 30 stitches and knit across row one.  

(you can do a few extra stitches if you want it wider and shorter you can cast on 35) 

purl the next row.  Keep alternating knit and purl rows to make stockinette stitch. When you come to the end of that ball wind the other three skiens and tie in and keep knitting stockinette  until reached desired length then bind off. 

I found the easiest way to weave in loose ends with to just reach through and weave with my fingers.  

 This was super quick I knit it up in the length it took to watch two movies with my girls.  :)  I hope you guys knit this and It keeps you and yours warm and cozy :)

I am a fan of New Years I don't always have to go to a party but I just like to celebrate new beginnings and letting go of things I guess. I spent New Years at my sisters with My sis Melissa's fam and the lovely Ell family too. This was the start of the evening. :) I put on a cute smokey eye and clear lip gloss..

Threw on one of my favorite dresses. I love the way it fits my shape and is very romantic flowey and comfortable. but does require some double stick tape lol

yeah the cleavage was a bit much at times but I love this flowy dress so much. Hey I have waited a long time to have cute little perky boobs and even after the breast reduction they won't always be that, so darn it why not make the most of it every now and again and take them out on the town eh?

This was the mood the next day..

I saw these are caribou coffee earlier this fall and thought hmm... So I sat curled up on the couch and finished these to share with you guys. :)

a coffee sleeve that fits a med/grande coffee perfectly. I love it I tested it out when we went out for our morning coffee it worked great. :) would make a lovely super easy stash buster gift. So here is the pattern enjoy :)

materials:
sport weight yarn

size 4 needles (either dp or at least 32'' circ)

darning needle
terms: bo=bind off
co= cast on
k=knit
p=purl




co 40 stitches and

join in round and k2p2 ribbing for 10 rows.

then knit for 20 rows

on the 21s row knit one then preform a one row button hole bo 6 stitches

then knit 10 more rows

then knit 5 rows of k2p2 ribbing

bo I did a stretchy bo at first then undid it and found the regular bo off worked better I put the finger side on the bottom of cup :)



hope you guys enjoy this it works with any sport weight yarn and I will come up with a fingering weight version soon but right now I need more coffee and a bath to counter act last nights wine ;) thanks for reading heart you guys :)

firemonsters tiny toast

So some times last fall we were at the park and I had knit monkey butt some wrist warmers and I was really wishing I had made holes for the thumbs so that she could play and still have her fingers to grip ladders and swings and what not but I also wanted them to be leg warmers should the mood strike her. So I improvised these in fire monsters size from left over sock yarn..

the sock yarn is regia and it isn't the softest but it is very durable and too stinkin cute the resist

So the patterns is simple as pie.

with size 1 needles co 40 st join in the round and knit 2x2 ribbing (k2,p2) for 6 rounds then knit until are desired length from thumb ( I did hers so them can be used as full sleeves) Then do I one row button hole I bo 5 stitches for her tiny fingers you may need to do one more. Then knit two rows even and 6 more rows of 2x2 ribbing and do a sewn bo. They are simple and very cute and practical. They work for boys or girls too. :)

my cuter the caribous coffee sleeve

This is how it starts I have this gorgeous malabrigo I can't possibly waste any of it. My book of stitches my sister got me many many Christmas's ago. I write it down as I go.

This just so you know is what I should be doing. I have two like this lol.

just to make it very clear the 4 stitches on the outside are always seed stitch and the 9 center are always stockinette stitch for the cable

I used size 6 needles and malabrigo yarn

co 17 st.

rd 1, 3, 5: k,p,k,p, k9,p,k,p,k

rd 2 and all even: k,p,k,p11,k,p,k

rd7:k,p,k,p,slip three stitches to cable needles hold in back, knit three, knit three from cable needle, knit 3, p,k,p,k

rd 9: and every other odd round from this point on will be same as round 1

rd 11: k.p.k.p, k3,slip 3 onto cable needle hold in front ,k3,knit 3 from cable needle, p,k,p,k

and continue on with the 6 rows over and over doing row 1 one on right side in between every cable row. until you have done 60 rows (just to clairify that means rows 6-11 over and over)

at this point you have a choice you can do a version with a button to strap on any mug or coffee cup or a continue bind off and graft together.

rd 61: k,p2tog, p, k3 then perform a one row button hole (if you don't know how to do this on utube there is a great visual tutorial from knitting help)

rd62: p1,k1 across

rd63: k1,p2tog,k1,p1 til last 3 stitches then p2tog,k1

rd64: k1,p1 across

rd 65: k1, p2tog, k1,p1 across til last 3 k2tog,p1

rd 66:p1,k1 across

rd 67: k1, p2tog k1,p1 until last 3 p2tog, k

rd 68 k1, p1 across

rd 69: bo

weave in ends and sew on button and there you have it!!

well my starving children would like to eat and I have to feed them the laundry is done now though and all other chores all I have left to do is eat and work out :)

By the way I weighed in today I haven't weighed what I weigh now since i pretty much got pregnant with fire monster yay me :D

butter mittens

Well I didn't make it to my Christmas party last night which really sucks but nothing I can change so moving on. I did get to watch public enemy's during which I got knitting one of the dish cloths knit for my sister (she requested some for Christmas don't ask)


I watched Julie and Julia which I absolutely loved it was cute. I just love Amy Adams. She is great. I got up in the middle of the night for toast while watching it because it made me want butter soo bad lol. It was very good and I am not a Julia child's fan I always thought she was sorta creepy lol.

This morning I got up got my coffee (and more toast) and even though the husband was cranky and whining and taking for ever to do everything and the kids were under foot and driving me crazy I got my day going the right way by washing and folding numerous loads of laundry stripping sheets getting clean sheets on all three beds and getting the old ones washed and I managed to bake some wonderful pumpkin cinnamon chip cookies (which might I add I got from Leslie friends blog a friend to knit with who i totally heart btw and the cookies are sooo delish) durning the process of doing laundry and sheets and also made lunch went over 9 spelling words with monkey butt ,made flash cards, and had a few books read to me. (might I add that while I did all of this plus cook and cleaned up breakfast my husband only managed to get in his fantasy football picks and go through a tiny stack of papers and two small not very messy desk drawers!!!!but was busy the whole two hours) Does this only happen at my home where it takes my husband ten times the amount of time to accomplish anything? It is ridiculous some days.




Anyway I was very relieved when the cranky husband and monkey butt were off to do there share for the day I finished up cleaning up after lunch and sat down to watch some more true blood and knit up these lovely little buggers..





I call them the butter mittens they are toddler size made out of us 4 needles and regia softy yarn. It took just under half a skein to knit them up. I co 32 stitches joined in the round
10 rows of ktbl,k
rows 1-4 k
left mitten row 5 k16 ,pm, bl k2 bl,pm, k14 right mitten k14, pm bl, k2, bl, pm, k16
row 6 k
and increase two stitches after markers every other row until you have 12 stitches between markers then knit one more row
next row knit to marker place those 12 stitches between on waist yarn and knit right past them.

They make the most lovely mittens ever any little kid would love :)

pick up 12 thumb stitches plus two through the joining place and knit them together with the other stitches so you still have 12 stitches.

k2tog all around then break yarn thread through and pull closed :)

I think my next feat is to knit a pair of mittens that stay on I have some ideas I will keep you posted :) as for me I am off to watch some tv and maybe have cocoa and one of my wonderful cookies. I can't wait. Now lets all hope that my lovely hubby comes back the great guy that I love and things will be better ;)
