Max's helicopter trip/ stay in n.i.c.u.

I was induced friday and sunday brought Max home.  He was fussy but every baby is their first night home.  So me and the hubby were just working together trying to sooth him.  He seemed like he had a tummy ache and he hadn't pooped since the night before so we were giving him tummy rubs, walking his legs, and checking his temp rectally because it helps with constipation. At one point his temp was 101. Our discharge orders said to call if the temp was over 100.3.  We went into the E.R. they said they would have to do a full set of testing to check for everything from metabolic disorders to a spinal tap.  He would be admitted and it would take 2 days.  That was nerve wracking enough then his sodium and acid came back high.  Then two times  the monitors that measure the rise and fall of his chest when breathing dropped. (doesn't mean he stopped breathing means shallow breathing like relaxed) Next thing you know he is being air lifted to sioux falls s.d.!!!  I was a total and complete wreck.  Here is the helicopter that picked him up.
We left before they even did so we could be there as soon as we could since Sioux Falls is a hour and half away.  He wound up only beating us by 15 minutes.  The first people we saw when we got into n.i.c.u were some of the ladies on the crew who flew in and transported.  They were truly awesome ladies.  The flight went awesome no more problems.  I was a utter and complete wreck mind you crying uncontrollably because from what the pediatrician told us he probably had a metabolic disorder or a infection.  I called some good friends of mine and her hubby is a dr I fully trust and he said sounded like a bit of dehydration and that probably jumped the gun.  I felt sooo much better. Here is the little guy getting snuggled.
In the n.i.c.u he under went a whole bunch more testing and monitoring.  We were still trying to breast feed but good luck when they check blood sugar, blood pressure, weigh and change a diaper at the very least before you trying to feed not to mention while he is kicking and screaming he has 6 cords hanging from him that he is getting wrapped up in during the fits...

So I pumped and we did bottle I decided it wasn't worth putting him through more seeing as it would take me a hour to get him to calm down and latch on.  It was also taking a big toll on me because it would take a hour and half to get him calmed down, fed, laid down, and then pump clean pump parts then since they had him on a strict feeding schedule of at least every 3 hours I would be back feeding a hour later and often didn't have time to eat. Since it hadn't even been a week since I had a baby this was all taking a toll on my body too.  Not to mention I would stay for every feeding except for the 2am one I would skip to get a few hours sleep.

I had to go mama bear on them at one point on our 3rd day there, because I wasn't getting any answers, no progress was being made, and no test results had come back with anything off since we left our town.  I wanted to know if nothing was wrong he wasn't dehydrated, his blood sugar was fine, why was he on fluids still.  Why were we here at all.  They said the hospital in my town didn't start the cultures until a day later so they were just waiting to make sure there wasn't any infection for sure.  Which I can understand fine but After that they quit pricking his foot every 3 hours for blood sugar and made it a once a day thing, the same with blood pressure, and they started to ween the i.v. every time he ate.  So he was off that by 11p.m. that night and on a saline lock while we waited for cultures from my town.  That was a rough day and I was really going down hill so me after me and ben fed max dinner he crashed right away and we went to dinner out side the hospital and saw some awesome yarn bombs.

My blood pressure was through the roof and my feet where HUGE but I couldn't deal with that now so back to the hospital we went feeling much better.
We fed big guy a few more times before heading back to the Ronald McDonald house.  He was very wide awake allot that night and having fun making faces at us.
The next day we got up and our prayers were answered it was free max powers day!!!  Woo hoo.  It turns out it was just a mild case of dehydration from a combination of two things.  He was fussy and having a hard time latching on and my milk hadn't come in yet.  I didn't have a pump to see how much he was getting because the pharmacy that carries them in our town wasn't open until tuesday and I had already set up a appt with my lactation consultant tues too!  But my milk is in now and we are all fine soo... We put him in this cute little outfit that was dropped off for Max and set out for home.
I am sure he probably misses his girl friend Sara (his favorite nurse who was so great to all of us and made going through this soo much easier)
He is a great traveler and slept the whole ride home.
With me right beside him in the back seat because I wasn't letting this handsome devil out of my sight...Still haven't.  Now I have to get into the drs and get my self checked out!!!  Hope you guys are having a great day.

39 week update/ meet baby Max

Well I got my laptop back and have all kinds of stuff to share.  I had a crazy few weeks I just now got around to doing the 39 week update.  I had a long 38 week.  Made a couple trips to labor and delivery for monitoring and found out Max was transverse!!!  I had a sideways baby.  You can't have a baby that way.  So we got our options.  1 try to turn him which he was supposed to be big and 39 weeks and they normally do it at 36 weeks and has a 1/3 chance of working at 36 weeks 2. wait and see if he turned and risk going into labor with a sideways baby and getting a emergency c section.  3. schedule a c section.  So we were told go home mull it over.  We decided to ask for a ultrasound before I saw my ob again the next day.  We were soo excited to find out he turned.  We asked to be induced as soon as we could.  Friday at 7:00 am we were at the hospital.
Here is me waiting on my nurses.

Now I super duper lucked out not only did I have two amazing nurses Angie and Jordan who made my life complete but my amazing o.b. wasn't seeing patents but delivered me anyway!!!  That made me feel much better knowing I was in such great hands.  So here was the time line.
8:00 pitocin started
10:00 break water
11:30 get epidural
1:00 at 5cm
2:00 6 cm
2:45 7cm
3:00 8cm
3:45 10 cm
3:55 dr asks if ready to push and sets up
4:02 and 2 pushs later maxwell james was born!!
I had pretty much 0 pain..  I got the epidural sooner then I thought I would and just hung out with a gf and Ben and watched movies and chatted.  Things went well I could feel pressure but no pain.  I had him way quicker then the girls they were 45 min and 44 min active labor max was literally 5 minutes active labor.  The only issue was there is allot more pain after your 3rd baby.  I feel like maybe they should have left my epidural in a few extra days lol.  We are all amazed and in love.
He was 8 pds 2 oz and 21"

Here is me and my girls with the little guy.
Here is fire monster enjoying being a big sister

Here are the two men I love to pieces.
He is such a snuggly sweet little guy
Sorry it took me so long to post this guys.  I was working on it sunday when we brought the big guy home and I saved it to finish later that day well by monday Max was airlifted to Sioux Falls s.d. and we spent the rest of the week until today in the n.i.c.u.!!!  I will post more about that later but for now just know we are all home and healthy but extremely exhausted.  We spend a week away from our girls so we decided to keep them home and just relax and get some bonding time after this huge scary mess but for now I am going to go try to catch some sleep while I can.  I promise a post up soon to explain :)

Late Mani Monday

Sorry i am late guys. . My laptop/Baby has some serious issues and i am not sure what to do about it! I think it's going to have to go to the computer Dr! So this post is from my phone.  I wanted to share my mani from the baby shower.  I went mint (loreals club priv) coral (covergirl coral silk) and white( Sally Hansen white on ). My leopard mani lasted over a week but ineeded a change!

I also had to take a minute to share the amazing cake my gf Amanda made for my baby shower! So stinkin cute.  I will probably have to post for a while from phone or my dinosaur desk top.  But for now I have a house to get ready for company tomorrow, two girls to get ready for school and packed to go be flower girls in my brothers wedding, a hospital bag to pack, and at some point a baby to have.  Have a good day people.

37 week update.

Okay guys we are here 37 week update.  This week was a busy one.  We finished the baby shopping and babies room.  I am still having headaches and bloody noses.  No end to that in sight.  We had lots of mommy daughter time because monkey butt was having her last summer visitation at her dads.  I have still been on the watermelon and icee kick.  I could live off those two foods I swear to you lol.  I am super exhausted.  I usually cry once a day usually for pretty much no reason.  but I have traded to water proof mascara and eyeliner just for that reason.  This is just how 9 months pregnant is...exhausting and emotional.

Although this pregnancy has been a breeze compared to the one with fire monster, I haven't been happy with my physician and that has been a source of stress for me.  The appointments are awkward inappropriate and  the answers I get are things like "Its probably just because your old" (um I am 32) or last week when I asked about my allergies causing my bloody noses and what I should do "you probably shouldn't have anymore kids" I didn't realize that my allergies effected my reproduction!  I have come to dread the appointments and rarely bother with calling with issues. Which is both sad and ridiculous since this person is paid to provide my medical care.

I live in a smaller community where at our hospital who ever is on call when you go into labor is who delivers.  So even if I had traded obgyn's I would have 1/3 chance getting that o.b. anyway.   The other option is Sioux falls which is hour and half away!  I went from 3-10cm in half hour with my second I don't have the choice to risk that.  I had wonderful Doctors with fire monster and Monkey butt and was soo lucky.  I wish I could have my old doctor back.   But it is what it is and I am just going to keep my head up and hope a different o.b. is on call when I go into labor.  (sadly yes I would rather have a stranger deliver my baby).

Sorry for the rant but on to the next thing.  I have to cook dinner for the family :)

maxs finished nursery

Okay since it is wednesday and I do my weekly pregnancy update I thought it would be a good day to also put up the post with Max's finished room.  Since we got the last of the stuff this weekend and powered it out over the weekend the room is now finished and ready for little max to come home.   It is a little room that is attached to our room so it is perfect.
Okay so when you walk in this is what you see.
We have the rocker in the same spot.  We have the baby monitor set up and I have a lamp for late night feedings.  The cute little name canvas's I made here and the buntings I made here.

I have the umaro blanket I knit here to snuggle him with.
By that is the crib.  I made him some cute puffs that hang over it and stuck up the fun wall decals.  His boppi is hanging on the corner so the cat can't use it.
There is the taggy I made him :)
Here is the duvet cover I made him here.

Here is the opposite side.

Here is another cozy little blanky I made for him.
He has a cute little mobile my sister in law gave us at the baby shower.

In this corner is the shelf unit we made into a little make shift closet for the little guy.  Since this room is technically a den or office it doesn't have a closet so we made one.  In between the crib and closet is a bouncy seat.  I covered it with a blanky because I washed everything this weekend and if I don't it will be covered in cat hair again!  I will put more about the shelf unit in another post showing how to do it.  It was easy and cheap.
The next wall is still mine.  I had took keep a bit of girl cave. (a girl has to have some place to do here make up and sew).  So it is my makeup sewing nail stuff all that.
Next wall has his changing table.   His clothes and blankets and shoes and what not are in baskets below with tags.  There is also some more of the bunting.

Here is a basket of burp clothes I sewed for him and the muslin blanket from by gf Deirdre.

On top of  it is a basket of  diapers and burpie cloths, some wipes, and a teddy fire monster picked out for Max.  On the shelf is some of our favorite cardboard books.  The flowers are the bouquet from my wedding.
So there you have it the finished product of Max's room.
I love it and can't wait for the little guy to come home so he can use it.  We are all ready for out sweet baby to be here :)

sioux falls baby haul

Since I am just days away from being 37 weeks and won't be able to leave town I ran to Sioux falls with the hubby and Fire monster to get the last few things we can't get in town and a # 1 on our list was the travel system.  I did tons of research on ease of use weight size the whole thing and I chose the graco fast action fold click connect monroe .
It is light weight it has a nice dark grey  color (fire monsters was light grey cotton and stained with the slightest spill even water!!!)
We grabbed a 3 pack of avent bottles.

 Someone needed some socks.
Benji loved these little tennies .  They are soo cute they have mickey and the fabric is a blue plaid they came from joanns.
Even though I had a breast reduction 3 years ago I am might be able to and am going to try my best to breast feed so I grabbed a pack of nursing pads.

We needed a bit more newborn size clothes so we grabbed these cute white and grey onsies and the matching pants.
A bit more 3-6 m size too so another set of onsies and pants.
Some good old generic dreft to wash it all in.
Some pampers swaddlers for the little guy.
We grabbed this  cosco folding bouncer when we came back to town,  I loved the look and yes we had a bouncer but the big thing we needed was something that would be small enough to travel back to the cities!!  This folds up super small.

I had two prescriptions to fill and kmart is running a get 25$ per prescription you transfer.  So I traded two over and got a 50$ gift card can't beat that.  I also grabbed wipes and some receiving blankets and I think I wound up paying 5$ out of pocket!  Anyway we are now set for baby boy. (I take that back because I just had to place a order for a bottle holder, some burt bees baby wash, and wash cloths!) All I have to do is get a bag packed so it is ready to go to the hospital.  As much as I have cherished and enjoyed this pregnancy and tried to keep it special he is getting very big and very heavy and the more tiny laundry I fold the more I am ready to have him in my arms :)
